The most recent trailer for Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has a really cool new feature that’s literally the very first of its kind on YouTube so far. That’s a pretty big deal.
Much like the closed captions option which has been a thing on YouTube videos for a good while already, this audio track feature can be toggled on or off via the little gear icon on the bottom right side of the video player. But the audio track feature is a brand new addition to the YouTube platform, and according to games accessibility specialist Ian Hamilton, the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla story trailer is the very first video on the platform to feature it.
The descriptive audio option - which overlays the trailer’s default audio track - is meant to assist viewers with impaired vision. It does so by supplementing the default track with short descriptions of what is currently present on the screen.
It seems the folks at Ubisoft are at least trying to enhance the inclusion factor associated with the Assassin’s Creed franchise. There’s also Valhalla’s interesting new feature that’ll be woven into its storyline which lets you switch between a male and female Eivor at literally any point in the game via the main menu. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more of these sorts of efforts in the future.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be released worldwide on November 10, 2020, for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS4, Google Stadia, and PC. It’ll also release for the PS5 alongside the console’s own launch on November 12, 2020.
